Sika has received all necessary permits and completed the acquisition of the MBCC Group. With this additional transaction, Sika strengthens its presence in all regions, expanding the company’s product and service offerings across all lifecycle phases in the construction industry, contributing to an even faster transformation towards a sustainable construction industry.
The MBCC Group, headquartered in Mannheim, Germany, has so far belonged to the Lone Star Funds and is active in the field of building systems and additions. To comply with regulations, Sika has sold the MBCC Group’s additions business in the UK, US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand to international private equity firm Cinven. The branch of the MBCC Group, now taken over by Sika, with 6,200 employees in more than 60 countries and 95 production sites, had a turnover of CHF 2.1 billion in 2022.
After successful completion, Sika’s sustainable product portfolio will be further expanded with MBCC’s innovative technologies. Sika will thus provide a comprehensive range of solutions to enable the sustainable transformation of the construction industry and help customers reduce their carbon footprint.
With the acquisition, Sika further strengthens its growth platform: MBCC complements and expands Sika’s offerings in four of the five core technologies and seven of the eight target markets. Customers will benefit from a wider and more efficient distribution network in all core markets. Sika expects annual synergies of CHF 160 – 180 million until 2026. For 2023, sales are expected to exceed CHF 12 billion.
