Design competition InCoDa

Beyond Circular: the circular product of the future

In a world where sustainability is no longer enough, we challenge you to think one step further. Not just doing less harm, but actively contributing to recovery. Not just circular, but regenerative, a design that ensures recovery, not degradation.

  • What if your design not only causes no waste, but also purifies the air, restores the soil and connects people?
  • What if your product gives more than it takes – to people, nature and society?

The challenge: Design a product that contributes to a positive impact on its environment.

Submit your idea by 1 September at the latest.

More information about the assignment

Design according to the principle that you give back more than you take. Example: Cool Brick, bricks made from sand and hydrogel that cool air through evaporation – no energy required. Or Studio Klarenbeek & Dros – Algae-based bioplastic. They design objects that store CO₂ and form the basis for new local industries using seaweed as a raw material.

The design competition was organised in collaboration with  Interieur Carrière and expert Robert-Willem Dol designed the competition.

By participating, you have the opportunity to win a complimentary presentation spot at trade event InCoDa on 21, 22, and 23 September.

We accept submissions until Monday, 1 September, after which the jury will select the most impressive circular ideas. You may have the opportunity to present your idea in September to a large audience of approximately 5,000 to 6,000 home furnishing stores, stylists, project designers, and interior architects!

What are we looking at?

  • Circular and regenerative: your design uses waste streams or biobased materials, but also makes an active contribution (environmental, social, cultural).
  • Creativity & innovation: dare to think outside the box – science fiction as inspiration, realism as a basis.
  • Story & meaning: what problem are you solving? For whom? Why is this relevant?

Who can participate?

Both established designers and recent graduates or students are welcome to participate and showcase their concepts to the interior design industry.
